Care Instructions

Much like a person or a pet, a ceramic vessel has to be taken care of for it to last as long as possible. These instructions are similar for most handmade pieces, but here are the three (3) instructions for my precious children that you have taken home.

1) Hand wash only!

Ignore the siren call of the dishwasher. Handmade ceramic pieces can crack, chip, and have their glaze damaged in the dishwasher. Treat your beautiful vessel the way you want to be treated! With a warm, soapy, gentle massage and a glass of wine.*

*Ginuwine music not included

2) Don’t Microwave

Take a page out of the English handbook and use a kettle for boiling water not a microwave. Handmade ceramic pieces can overheat, catch on fire, or explode in the microwave. You overwork that thing way to much to allow it to explode. Use a kettle for water and a microwave safe vessel to heat up food before transferring it to your absolutley stunning handmade ceramic pieces.

Not every ceramic piece is made the same in the eyes of the FDA. Certain pieces use glazes not safe for human consumption. Some pieces don’t use glaze at all. Please never eat off anything that is not glazed. I don’t think either one of us can deal with a hospital bill right now.

When you purchased your piece(s), you should have been informed which ones were food safe and which ones weren’t. Mugs will always be food safe but certain cup and bowl shaped vessels are for plants not people. If you forget or have any questions on the food safety of your pieces please contact me and I will let you know.

3) Food Safe only!

Now, could you ignore every instruction given to you and assume your piece will survive? Yes. You could run it through the dishwasher six times and then procede to throw it in the microwave for an hour and it would survive. Maybe. Actually, could anything survive that? Anyway the point is that while it will probably not affect the piece right now, it will negativley affect the longetivity. And I know you want your beautiful mug to live a long and prosperous life, passed down to future generations.

So please follow the instructions and if you have any concerns send me a message:)
